Essential Birding App

Since its evolution from Bird Log, it has become a essential tool for logging birds seen and at the same time helping the entire birding community.

eBird review

Great tool to use in the field for keeping track of birds seen. Also has the option for adding comments which is great for doing a Breeding Bird Atlas survey. I like using the microphone instead of typing in the names (although it doesnt always get it right

Pretty Useful

I have been an eBird user since 2008. I record lists on paper so that I have a hard copy, so it does not help me to be able to enter lists on the fly. This feature is especially useless to me since many of the places where I go birdwatching are out of service range! The interface is fine for entering lists retroactively. I do wish it were possible to edit lists in the app, and I wish I could pull up my life, ABA, year lists etc.

Simple but disappointing

Im now updating from 2 to 3 stars now. Its better than its original launch, but I shouldnt have to open eBird.org to see all my inputs. It should all be here after I login. Instead, I have to open a separate app and open the website to see what I recorded on anything other than this phone.

Excellent app

Great for tracking and documenting sightings. Love the interface. Simple and quick. Gets you documented and back to the binocs quickly.

Almost there - Half of website version

Love this app for entering known birds. I like the ease of typing in name and how it selects common birds for the area based on time of year. I do wish that the app could be fully developed to include the other half of the website version. I would like the app to know where I am and then identify known hotspots and their species list. For the part developed, it deserves 5 stars. Please develop the rest!

Awesome!

Really top notch app for keeping track of my bird watching.

Like it

So much to learn. Good for stationary watching. Cant erase mistakes. If you enter data you cant change or delete numbers. I like to look at the distribution of species and hot spots.

Annoying and useless

This app purports to let you submit lists to the database but will not if it doesnt like one of your sightings. It reports one is rare or too high a count and asks you to "verify" and submit comments. It does not let on which bird it is complaining about, but keeps that a secret. Even when I have made comments on every bird it will not let me submit the list. Then the list and all my work are lost. Unfriendly and unhelpful to the community.

Incredibly useful tool

I love this app. Its easy to use, straightforward, and a great complement to Merlin (which has photos but doesnt keep track for you).

Pretty demanding

Since this was developed to support citizen science, this app wants more detail than the average birder may want to interrupt their birding to provide. I like to keep a list of the birds I have seen on a day trip. It is burdensome to have to keep track of time, to have to start a new list if I travel more than five miles, and especially to count all the birds of each species. As a result, I only record data for 5% of my trips.

Excellent

Love this app

Time-saver

I really like this app. It has been an adjustment to move from a paper list to this format, but I am a fan of the functionality. I wish it was possible to access the drop-down detail menus that are available in the regular website on this app... I find myself writing details about sex, breeding evidence, etc in the notes and forgetting to go back and move them later. And I cant figure out how to delete a sample list I made when I was first figuring out the app. But I like entering the data in real time in case others are interested in my sightings, and it saves me time by not having to sit down at a computer and enter everything after my trip.

AWESOME bird app

This is a really great bird app.

Easy to use and convenient

Ebird is easy to use and easier for me than having to post when I get home. Plus I can look in the field to see what birds I would expect to see for that time and location, often narrowing the list of possible IDs.

Convenient, pretty good

This is a useful way to connect to my eBird account and log sightings. It could be improved by adding more functions that are available on the website, such as details for each reported species, or the ability to search for recent sightings.

Great portable bird sighting listing

I love this little app because no matter where I am I can report instantly the birds that I see. It also helps me to identify birds and to mark my personal hotspot and to find other hotspots. Love it, use it daily.

Ebird App

This app is easy to use and very comprehensive. I use it while in the field and to share great illustrations and photos with other birders and non-birding friends. I would highly recommend this app.

Ebird app is fantastic

Makes submitting reports even easier. Love it

Great, very useful

Nice tool while in the field. Very easy to use and augments the website well.
